So, I have a large pieced baby blanket ready to be quilted folded in a corner of my craft room. Rather than start that, I decided to start another handstitched handcrafted creation because…I can do that while watching TV. Last week Top Stitch had its sidewalk sale. The owners had closed for the previous week to attend “Bernina University” down in San Fran, so this was their appreciation for our patience, I suppose. As expected the shop was filled with ladies lovingly caressing fabric and holding up various bolts up against each other to see how they might match.
To attach the batting to the fabric, I use 505 which is a water based spray adhesive. Always spray the batting and never the fabric, directly. I cut the top piece a little smaller than the bottom (which really means I trimmed the yard a little smaller, no precision necessary!). Now that it’s put together, I’m not quite in love with it. My handquilting looks better on rounder, larger shapes, but it will be a learning experience. I doubt Jimmy, Elizabeth, and sweet Grace will have many complaints.
The fabric is from the “in the beginning” collection.
