Hip Baby Quilt Progress

To prove that I HAVE been doing something, here’s the progress on my “hip baby” quilt. I’ve managed to tackle all 45 squares of 6×6 — granted 9 of them were just solid squares, but still.

The key with any quilt piecing is Organization.  I’ve found that I have to set up stations of assembly and follow my procedure devotedly to avoid ripping out too many seams because I pinned the wrong corner.

After I laid out the squares for the final piecing, I decided to label them (1a, 1b, 1c, etc.) because I don’t have the time (or patience!) to sew them all together all in one afternoon or the extra floor space to have the pieces hanging out, collecting dust until I do have the time.  Next I will be sewing in sets, 1a to 1b, 2a to 2b, and so on, then add as I go.

I SO love the fabric!
